The GDC uses several social media sites to help raise awareness of our work and to engage with patients, members of the public, and dental professionals.

We welcome feedback and ideas from all of our followers, and endeavour to engage where possible. All private messages to the GDC's Facebook account will be read and information passed on to relevant teams where appropriate. However, we may not reply individually to all messages received via Facebook.
Since the account is not constantly monitored it is important that we ensure that negative, personal or inappropriate comments about individuals or organisations are not visible to general Facebook users who visit our Facebook page. We have therefore limited the visibility of comments. This means that any comment that you post on the GDC Facebook page will only be visible to you and your Facebook friends and will not be visible to other Facebook users.
If you would like to contact us via Facebook, please send us a private message.
If you contact us via social media regarding matters that require official communications, we may ask you to contact us by email or telephone.
Raising concerns about registrants
Please do not use social media to make complaints to the GDC about dental professionals. We will not normally discuss fitness to practise complaints or investigations through social media channels; instead we will ask you to email us or telephone us with your concerns.
Requests for Information
Please do not submit requests for information covered by either the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or the Data Protection Act 1998 via Twitter or Facebook. If you do post messages that cover these matters we will normally ask you to provide us with your real name and an email or postal address for correspondence.

Guidance for GDC registrants
Registrants are expected to follow the GDC’s standards in relation to social media as set out in the GDC’s Standards for the Dental Team and our additional supporting Guidance on the use of social networking sites.
